In order to ensure appropriate safety levels for hydrogen technologies and avoid overly conservative and expensive safety solutions, safety research must keep pace with, or better still, anticipate technological developments.
The general acceptance of hydrogen technologies is currently considered to be high. However, studies in this area also show that most people have not yet considered the use of hydrogen in their immediate environment in detail. Therefore, individual incidents can have a significant impact on public opinion during the current market ramp-up phase.
If safety measures are not taken into account from the outset and existing knowledge gaps are not addressed early on, it can hinder the ramp-up of hydrogen technologies.
In order to support the market ramp-up of hydrogen technologies, there is a need for coordinated cooperation between those with expertise in hydrogen safety. That is why we want to join forces to form the National Hydrogen Safety Alliance.
